To Visitors to New York City:

As Commissioner for the Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities, I know that tourism is an important industry in New York City.  Travelers with disabilities coming to New York require accurate information about accessibility features about our many tourist attractions, cultural activities, overnight accommodations, restaurants and transportation resources.  This is not only a convenience but also a necessity.

Accessible NYC is working with the City’s businesses to identify attractions, activities, accommodations and services that are accessible to people with disabilities so they have an enjoyable visit and wish to return our wonderful City to experience everything it has to offer.  Once a business is reviewed to determine its accessible features, the information is posted on Accessible NYC’s web site - www.accessiblenyc.org.

The Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities is proud to work with Accessible NYC on this worthy task, as we know how important it is to disseminate information about accessibility during the planning stage of a visitor’s trip so their actual visit is flawless.  I would like to commend Accessible NYC on its initiative and foresight, as we want all visitors to New York City to have a great experience so they choose to return again and again.

                                                                                    Sincerely,

                                                                                    Matthew Sapolin
